Pay-Per-Click Marketing APD Tactic 1 - Google Adwords Business Model We live in a remarkable time in the history of mankind. Only in the last few years has it been possible to have a store anywhere in the world and to drive targeted traffic directly into your store by using specific keyword phrases that only your customers would ever search for. Unlike marketing before this time, where you always had to do pay for advertising that encompassed a far larger group then who your actual customers were. Now you can market directly to who your customers are. A business no longer needs to cast a wide net to solicit customers. This is a very profound change within marketing and in the business world. Google with it's Adwords program has been in the forefront of this direct keyword marketing system - and still proves to be very effective in delivering the right customers to the website. There are five basic parts to the Adwords Business Model: 1 - Keywords - search
term selection This is what makes Adwords so great - it is business 101. You invest/purchase $x of traffic and you receive $y in sales/commissions. As long as $y is greater than $x - you are earning a profit. For example: You purchase 100 clicks for $33 - you make 1 sale and your commission is $40 So you earn a $7 profit or a ROI or return on investment of $7/$40 or 17.5% - That's good money - especially since it does not take that long to receive 100 clicks. You control the keywords and the adcopy - test and track each keyword as well as try alternative adcopy - some will convert great - resulting in profit - some will not convert - resulting in a loss. Always set daily spending limits, and monitor your costs and your sales closely. Tracking and adjusting your campaigns will increase your profits.
APD Tactic 2 - Get Your Education That is the nuts and bolts of Adwords right there. Now certainly it is much more involved then that, and if there was ever a time to invest in your education - this would be it. Before you start spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on Adwords - spend a few hundred on your education and the right tools. This is a business system that works - learn and follow the system. The first of these, being your keywords selection. There are two types of advertisers who use adwords - those that run their campaigns for a profit and those that just throw money at it because they have an unlimited budget or they are just plain stupid. It is a waste of your time and money many times to try and compete for main keywords where there is an over abundance of advertisers with big budgets. When you go for 2, 3, 4, 5,or more words within a keyword phrase, many times this is where there is very little competition and the visitors are highly targeted. So instead of competing for the very expensive keyword "insurance" - you would want to compete for the keyword phrase "best priced pickup insurance in Peoria Illinois". While sure, there will not be many searches every month for the latter search phrase - But....when someone uses that search phrase - they are much more likely to buy, then the person, that just uses the search term "insurance." There has got to be at least several hundred keyword building software systems out there - in fact I bet there are at least a dozen on my pc.....But the one that the professional Adwords consultants all use is KeywordElite. To put it simply - it has more power to find the long tail keyword terms then any tool out there. Then you could produce unique, brand new, 3 line ads, that were even more productive, then the competition. Not only would this tool help you write Adwords adcopy - but you could also use it to test headlines and even sales copy. I even use it to select the best domain name out of several I am considering. The Ad Writer and Copywriters Secret Tool - Click Here APD Tactic 6 - Have the Right Tools - Tracking One of the quickest way to overspend with pay-per-click marketing is to continue to purchase keyword traffic that does not produce a positive ROI. So if you have an identical ad, and one keyword returns a sale every 50 clicks and another keyword returns a sale every 300 clicks - then more than likely you have spent more on traffic - to much in fact - for the keyword that only returns a sale every 300 clicks. Usually then you would delete that particular low performing keyword. Keeping track of dozen keyword phrases can be a hand full - let alone trying to keep tabs on hundreds or thousands of keywords. You will want to know exactly which ads and keywords are performing - and those that are not. By continuly tweaking and dumping the low performers - and maximizing the winning performers - you increase your ROI or return on investment. There is a very simple solution that not only tracks which keywords and which ads are performing - but also allows you to import camapaings directly into multiple pay-per-click services. So you setup several campaigns in Google Adwords - you can then import those same ads and keywords directly into MSN Adcenter or Yahoo Marketing, as well as a host of others - and you will know which keywords from which ppc services are performing and those that are not. You can then keep track of hundreds and even thousands of keywords across multiple pay-per-click search engines. and Tracking Separates the APD Tactic 7 - Other Pay-Per-Click Services Google Adwords is certainly not the only game in town. There are several other pay-per-click services that can provide you with keyword based targeted visitors. Many times you can purchase traffic for considerably less. The only downside I have found is that the quantity of visitors is not as great as Google Adwords, but a few click here and a few clicks there, and next thing you know you have a whole lot of visitors to your site.

In other words you can specify the url(s) that you want your Adword ads to appear. This is a great technique to cause your ad and link to appear on multiple top ten websites. 1 - Select a keyword that you want and then go visit the top ten organic listings in google - the main search engine results 2 - Record the url of any website that you find that has adsense ads. Pay particular attention to the Adsense ad placement - you want to find sites with Adsense ads above the fold - prominently placed - record the specific url - Investigate other pages of the site and find other url's to add to your list 3 - Set up a new Adwords campaign and select ad placement (used to be called site targeted) instead of keyword based. So instead of keyword targeted your ads are now site targeted - so you want your ad to appear on cnn.com - (100 Alexa) - this is how it can be done. The other advantage of this is your ads appear in organic top ten listings and many times it is easier and even cheaper then if you were competing for a keyword based ad where you might end up on page 2 or 3 of the google results.
